A radio station visited Edsby customer Greater Essex County District School Board and broadcasted a story about how the district’s adoption of Edsby for its 35,000 students and 4,500 staff is now extending to parents in the district.
The district selected Edsby to give students and teachers modern collaborative capabilities in and out of the classroom, as well as real-time communication of academic achievement with students and their parents and guardians.
Superintendent of Education, John Howitt, described Edsby as an extension of the classroom.
Edsby is an online learning management system that really stretches the classroom beyond the walls. It allows for us to expand using a digital classroom, helps with the flipped classroom and also allows students to interact and share with their own learning based on the resources that are there.
Because parents and guardians are the district’s partners in learning, Howitt said it was important to be able to connect with them in an online world.
At Greater Essex, Edsby collates all of the events from all of the activities, groups, extra curriculars, classroom activities and homework on one calendar, making it easy for parents and guardians to follow a child’s activities as well as grades.
